Greed is not an option

I had a dream in which I had created a product.

I sold that to my friends and family
and made some money with that, but it was not enough.

I sold it to our neighbors, to the street and the town and the whole county
and made some money with that, but it was not enough.

I optimized manufacturing by the use of cheaper material and human power
and made some money with that, but it was not enough.

I improved my tax costs by founding a holding in a tax friendly country
and made some money with that, but it was not enough.

I built subsidiaries in different countries addressing the global market
and made some money with that, but it was not enough.

I fought down most of the competition, gained their customer share, sold my product to them
and made some money with that, but it was not enough.

I shortened the Mean-Time-Between-Failure and increased new features to sell the same product several times to the same customer
and made some money with that, but it was not enough.

I hired lobbyists to influence the government to create regulations supporting my growth and talked about preventing job cuts
and made some money with that, but it was not enough.

I invented products filling satisfaction gaps to gain a maximum share of the salary of my customers
and made some money with that, but it was not enough.

I addicted my clients to my fantasy and supported them in buying on credit
and made some money with that, but it was not enough.

I influenced governments to shorten educational trainings in school and university to get fresh new clients some years earlier
and made some money with that, but it was not enough.

I took over a media enterprise to broadcast my fantasy continuously into all brains as part of the daily news
and made some money with that, but it was not enough.

I realized that further growth leads to modern slavery. Moral was left behind long time ago and so I was not afraid to take even further steps. The strong overwhelm the weak. Local governments where only a minor influenceless part of my game. This is global dictatorship by choice, as long as my clients are happy. And they are, because what they know about their world comes from my enterprise.

I AM MR.BIG.

I woke up with a smile on my face, made a coffee and picked up my iPad, played a free game with some ads in it, read the latest offers for a huge 3D flat screen television for only 20€ monthly rate, read the news about some government decisions that I couldn’t identify as the will of the electorate but as support for the big ones, realized that my iPhone 5S is my 4th iPhone within 6 years. Scanned my iTunes bills for apps, music and videos and then I realized … I am the client, I am the slave.

This cancerous growth will kill its host in the end like it always does, I thought.
